I came across Petits Fours at their 1st branch (called Petits Fours Paris) at Verdi Centre on Beyers Naude totally by chance. We were driving home from some shopping & didn’t quite feel like heading home yet so we saw the store & curious since we hadn’t been there before, stopped in for a coffee. They invited me along for the opening of their 2nd branch, which is also their 1st franchised store over a Breakfast at Tiffany’s themed brunch last week.
The location was a bit of unexpected, its out in Kramerville (on the same street where The Collective happens) & is on the upper level of the Hertex Showroom (a designer fabric showroom). While Petits Fours Paris is themed around European sophistication and the flair of the 60’s (you actually have to see it yourself, its indescribable), Petits Fours New York looks like an airy, comfortably & fashionable loft. Similarly, the menu carries their usual pastries, cupcakes, muffins and breads etc. (all baked on-site) but has been tweaked to include American favourites like bagels, pretzels & gourmet hot dogs.
How pretty are these high-heeled cookies?
Petits Fours New York comes with its own twists…
NYC is high on my bucket list & this just made it worse!
I had one too many these savoury scones. These guys really get it – presentation is everything & I loved the attention to detail of having all the treats labelled….
This is what too-pretty-to-eat looks like. They’re also a cake boutique & have special occasions covered on order…
These were filled with guacamole & shrimp!
These aren’t ice cream cones like I thought, but gourmet tea by the Tea Merchant.
One of the best things about events is getting to meet really cool people like Morgan & Leanne (both well on their way to becoming lawyers!)
There’s already talk about Petits Fours London opening next year. Petits Fours also do a monthly themed cooking classes that include like how to make macaroons, designer cupcakes & the art of French food etc.
