TransformHers – round 2!

I was lucky enough to be invited back for a second round of TransformHers to shake off the holiday indulgence. If you missed my original posts about how TransformHers works & how I fared in the 1st round, be sure to check those out first.

After almost 3 weeks of eating, tanning, sleeping & more eating in Cape Town I knew getting back into exercise wouldn’t be easy but that it was necessary. I managed about 1 x 1 hour cardio gym session a week while we were away which isn’t great but definitely better than nothing (or so I kept telling myself).

Our training grounds – Northcliff High School

We were spoilt with goodie bags on arrival & much like the last round the sessions were fun & varied all the time. The rain tried to deter us once or twice but didn’t succeed (we’re hard core like that!). Some new ladies joined so it was fun to make new connections too. Every session started with us exchanging notes about the previous session’s resulting stiff muscles & finding muscles we didn’t even know we had 🙂 As our trainer Liana would say “are you feeling the burn?”

Here’s how I did this time:

Exercise Measurement Before: 17th Jan After: 7th Feb Difference Difference %
Running 700m (timed) 3:21 2:58 0:23 11%
Sit ups # completed in 60   secs 29 33 4 14%
Push ups # completed in 60   secs 39 47 8 21%
Scissors timed 3.3 3.4 0.1 12%
Agility timed 1:03 0:51 0:08 12%
Overall improvement 14%

On my 1st round back in December I had a 25% improvement overall which I was pleased with. Being able to improve in this session by 14% was a good result for me. I was a quite worried about how I’d do not just because of the holidays but because I’d also cut back on other exercise (gym, aerobics & running that I was doing on round 1) to free up time to blog more.

The best news for me though was dropping 2.9kg which was almost unthinkable given the indulgent vacation we’d had but I made sure that my eating improved significantly as soon as we were back in Jozi.

Thank you to TransformHers for showing me that exercise needn’t be boring & for getting me off the couch (literally).

Best of luck to everyone taking part in the iTransform Challenge – I’ll be keeping an eye on you!

In the words of an old school mate of mine, “it’s your right to be fit, sexy & happy. So claim it!”
