If you hear me rant about the power of social media, it’s only because its true. This time Twitter led me to a sumptuous gathering of ladies for an early Valentines Day themed event at the Fairlawns where we talked all things chocolate & personal style. I know, right? I wasn’t going to try & resist this combination. I’d been to the Fairlawns before, but I’m still in awe of this slick boutique hotel tucked away in the quiet neighbourhood of Morningside Manor.
Being my 1st time, I was thoroughly impressed with the organisation of the event. It started & ended promptly on time & had amazing speakers who I actually learned something new from!
Kate Waller, a chocolatier told us all about the history of chocolate & how it was even traded as a currency once.
There’s way more to chocolate than you can ever imagine. I, however was more interested in getting some into my mouth 🙂
Janine Starkey, an image consultant who earned her stripes heading up the wardrobe department at Egoli was highly entertaining as she took us through body shapes and what to do & not to do.
I honestly thought I had heard it all on this topic but she had simple, practical examples for us & they worked! I was lucky enough to be one of a few called up to the front to have my outfit analysed (I didn’t do too badly) & learnt that my body shape is a “cross”. Janine tells me this is a dream body shape, I’m going to have to get back to her on that! 🙂
Did I mention we were spoilt?
This was the best Sunday afternoon in a while & as if all of this want enough we got decadent goodie bags filled with a Russell Hobbs flat-iron (I couldn’t believe it), (more!) chocolate & macaroons.
If you’d like to join the next session, they’re complimentary (really!), follow Russell Hobbs on Twitter for more info.
