In just a few hours now we’ll be making our way to the airport on the Gautrain from Park Station – finally using this service for its intended purpose instead of a day trip to go shopping in Pretoria 🙂 By the time you’re asleep (well hopefully), just after 10pm we’ll be high up in the sky taking full advantage of Emirate’s hospitality 🙂
Yup, so we’re going via Dubai. Emirate’s pricing was just unbeatable by a mile & the layovers both ways are manageable. Still, it’s long. Just over 8 hours to Dubai & another 7.5 or so to Lisbon. Sleeping pills? Check!
I’ve checked & cross checked all the to-do lists, called the banks, packed toothpaste, travel adapters & even the spare Euros we’ve had lying around. It’s become a bit of a challenge really to see just what I forget each time. And let me just say that I continue to surprise myself…
Two other things I’m excited about:
- I have a meeting with the South African embassy in Portugal while I’m in Lisbon – very keen to get their perspective
- I’ll be catching up with the gorgeous Renata Santos who I met in Istanbul (completely by chance) – she lives in Porto (how small is this world) & she’s helped us with some of the logistics of this trip.
Wi-fi access will be limited but I tend to have withdrawal symptoms when I’m away from my blog for too long so I will at least tweet & instragam (@wisaal) a bit as far as I reasonably can, so catch me there for updates. I have scheduled a few posts while I’m away but they won’t be daily…
I’ll leave you with this video I found this online about 5 thing you’ll love & hate about Portugal. The dude is a bit weird but his advice is practical & he means well…
Have great Easter, be safe & we’ll chat in April,
