A new look and great news for Naturals from ORS

Late last week I went along to a launch by one of my personal favourite hair care brands, ORS at the private dining room at The Maslow Hotel (another favourite!)…


Just in terms of general formulation they’re not perfect, but they are doing a far, far better job in my books in terms of giving us good, wholesome, nourishing ingredients than most brands out there. I mean that’s why we chose them to be a part of the Healthy Hair Indaba! 🙂

So in a nutshell, they had 2 bits of news:


1. They’ve officially changed their name to ORS (that’s what I’ve been calling them all this time anyway!) from Organic Root Stimulator though I must say, I have heard many people call them “the olive oil range” or “the green boxes/bottles”. So yes, overdue! I quite like the new look, its cleaner, neater and a bit softer around the edges and dont be alarmed, it’s the same old (good) stuff we’re used to on the inside – the formulations haven’t changed…


2. They’ve launched a Straightening & Strengthening Treatment. I first saw the product a few weeks back since I subscribe to their US & UK site and I was intrigued right away. Straightening & Strengthening – I mean talk about an oxymoron! It took a little while for me to get my head about this one as there really isn’t anything like it in SA currently to compare. In a nutshell, it promises to give Naturals über protection and that coveted versatility to move from curls to straight hair safely (even with a hot iron at 200 degrees) by infusing moisture & protein into the hair in 3 steps. It also says it will cut down styling time.

The treatment doesn’t even require gloves for application and is said to be packed with coconut extract, aloe vera & wheat protein. It would need to be redone every 4-6 weeks and has a HAIRepair range for maintenance (shampoo, conditioner & serum – sold separately) for maintenance in between.

The Straightening & Strengthening Treatment hits Clicks stores around end April/early May and will retail for R129.99 (its $14.99 in the US).
