It’s been a few years since I made it out to SA Fashion Week (I’m properly old like that) but last week the Hair Gurus were invited to the kick off of SA Fashion Week – the Sheer Glamour SS’14 Collection hosted by Unilever brands TRESemme & Motions (the latter was a headline sponsor at the recent Healthy Hair Indaba) at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rosebank (I’d forgotten how gorgeous that hotel is).
On the fashion front the show featured 8 South African Designers: Black Coffee, Clive Rundle, Lunar, Joel Janse van Vuuren, Gert-Johan Coetzee, Cutterier by Laz Yani, Vino and Rubicon and with that 8 distinctive hair looks developed to complemented each of the respective designer’s Summer 2014 signature collections. The celebrity stylists who needed no introduction were Nthato Mashishi (for Motions) and Matthew Mansoor (for TRESemme).
Minnie Dlamini, Motions brand ambassador (and what seems like Nthato’s muse) was definitely the belle of the ball when she stepped out in a Gert-Johan Coetzee number and a high volume glam up do. I’m obviously biased, but I would have loved to see some natural hair on the ramp (aren’t afro’s in fashion?). Loved seeing my Hair Gurus – it’s not often all 5 of are in one room and we must have hung around for 2 hour after the show just catching up!
Enjoy some of the looks of the night…
