Today marks a year, 366 days actually since I brought Emma home and if I had to say what she’s brought into our lives everyday, its joy.
I’ll save you all the gushing except to say she makes me look forward to coming home each day, makes me want to travel less (really!) and is the best companion ever, especially when I find myself home alone at night (we like having the bed to ourselves, 3’s a crowd, shhhh!).
But let me paint a balanced picture here. She is naughty as hell! Very little of our furniture doesn’t look like scratch posts (even though we have bought her 2 scratch posts) and actually most days that goes for my face, back and hands too. Yes, basically, I am Emma’s servant/toy.
We have canceled going to the movies and once even dinner because we just have not been able to find her. And obviously an hour later she comes strolling into the house like nothing happened. And she has been expensive. With imported litter, pet shop brands of kitty food, toys (she doesn’t care for), boarding when we’re away and trips to the vet that cost around the same as seeing a GP (and yes, I realise these things are all my doing) I’m just going to keep LOL-ing at people who say we should get another one. We’re good!
But none of that matters because she’s so damn cute! (I may feel differently in the morning when she comes to sit on my chest at 5am so I can let her out for a wee…)
with her brother (centre) and sister (left) the day I met her & she came home
(I hope those two are good!)
violent protesting at bath time
utter fascination with dripping taps
surveying all that his her kingdom (i.e. the back yard)
nap time (she takes her full time occupation very seriously). Would you look at those toes…
The. Best. Face. Period.
To my Emma, thank you for bringing so much light into our lives. We love you so, so much (but I love you the most, obviously!) and we’re looking forward to seeing you grow bigger, fatter & naughtier in the many many years to come.
