News from Crabtree & Evelyn…

When I first heard that the Crabtree & Evelyn store in Hyde Park was revamping, I couldn’t quite imagine why. I thought the store looked just fine (trust me, I’ve spent enough time in there to know!). And instead of shutting shop for the duration of the renovations, I loved that they decided to do a pop-up shop in the interim instead & offered 15% selected items over that time – bonus!

When I entered the new store yesterday for the press event, it all clicked. The white backdrop is refreshing, especially against all the blue (blue is my favourite colour by a mile). The space feels well, lighter & brighter.

We were also there for the launch of the new Himalayan Blue range, which I’d first seen online on their US website not so long ago, so I was really pleased we didn’t have to wait ages for it to get to SA as sometimes happens with beauty brands. I tried some of the hand therapy (that’s Crabtree & Evelyn speak for hand cream) & the scent is subtly beautiful & clean. It’s hard to describe & do it justice but I found it refreshingly clean with touches of citrus, ginger & sandalwood but mysterious from start to end.

Call me boring, but La Source will always be my absolute favourite. They launched a few line extensions earlier this year, including a body mist, foot remedy & foot smoother, all of which I’m severely overdue to try out.

It’s that time of the year & there’s a wide variety of Christmas gifts to choose from including gift sets (good value) & seasonal Christmas goodies & eats. Oh & not forgetting the bespoke Gisela Graham Christmas decorations, in-store from mid November.

Talking about gifts, this is actually how I was first turned onto the Crabtree & Evelyn brand some 4 years ago (by my now husband) & now its really hard to use anything else. They do travel sizes really well (this is important to me), so I can take them anywhere I go. Their ethos of having a spa experience at home really resonates with me. Well that & the fact that their products really work!

The Citron & India Hicks ranges (my next favourites) have really grown on me through this year & have been welcome additions in my home & handbag! Crabtree & Evelyn have certainly kept things interesting by launching additional ranges recently like Pomegranate, Wisteria as well as the Avocado, Olive & Basil range.

I love that there is a basin in every store – no better invitation to try out a hand therapy (hand cream) & hand recovery (hand scrub).

We were spoilt with beautiful goodie bags & the rose was not just for decoration, I learned it was actually a teaser for an upcoming launch…

It was great to finally meet the Crabtree & Evelyn team (all ladies might I add!); Nina, Michelle, Louise & Claire. Always nice to be able to put a face to the name as I had chatted with some of them on email for months.

Great night out, so very glad I went!
