#NowTesting (on my ‘fro)…

Quite a couple of new products have come across my desk couch lately so I thought I’d do a little round-up if you’re keen to see what I’m busy with. Ironically just yesterday I mentioned that I need to get out of this product junkie phase & yet here I go again. Perils/perks of the job! 🙂

If you’re a regular here you’ll know that I like to use products for a little while before I review it (be it skin, hair or body), so you can look out for more detailed posts on these in the coming weeks. I’ve also checked that these products are free of “nasties” (mainly mineral oil & petroleum) before I slap it on my fro… PS these are mostly on the professional side of things so consider it an investment in your hair!

Carol’s Daughter has made its way to SA! I’ve not had heaps of success with home-made moisturising sprays (long story for another post) so I was keen to try this one (R265). I LOVE the spray bottle (read: zero curl disturbance). I got mine off The Perfect Hair (I’m heading for halfway through this bottle already!). I haven’t yet tried it as a detangler which is how its marketed but I will (cautiously…)

Update: see my review here.

Carol’s Daughter Healthy Hair Butter (R215) – also from The Perfect Hair. I haven’t used this yet – every time I open the lid the menthol smell makes me put it back on really quickly 🙁 Think beeswax, jojoba oil, cocoa butter & shea butter – I need to give it a go!

Argan Care Healing Smoothie Reconstructive Hair Mask – this was sent to me & I really hadn’t heard/seen a thing about this Finnish brand before (neither had anyone I asked). Check them out here. The # 1 (i.e. the 1st listed ingredient is argan oil – impressive). Pricing & stockists to follow…

I asked Birkeye to recommend their strongest protein treatment and this was it! Key ingredient? Sheep placenta! 1 sachet = 1 application (R45). I bought a few – it also comes in an olive oil variant. I don’t know what I was expecting but it doesn’t look/smell bad at all! 🙂 Of course my husband made a point of asking if it was halaal! 🙂

I feel like I’ve been too focused on moisture lately so I’ve shifted a bit and I’m currently on a protein binge so I couldn’t resist this Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor from Birkeye. I was a little surprised (read: disappointed) that it contained mineral oil but I am going to give it a go anyway – I’m just too curious…

Update: see my review here.

I’ve seen the Inoar brand (originally from Brazil) around salons for some time but didn’t quite get what they were about. For my 1st interaction with the brand via their Argan Oil, so far they’re in my good books (it’s day 3). It’s got a whopping 9% argan oil (if that doesn’t sound like much trust me some of the other brands punting argan oil probably aren’t even cracking 2 or 3%).

Update: see my review here.

Still on Inoar, but this one I haven’t touched as yet. BB Cream for your hair! For your hair – yes really! The promise here is a total of 9 benefits for your hair….softness, instant shine, brightness, anti frizz, easy blow dry, intense hydration & it corrects imperfections in hair shaft. Very tall order. Honestly still getting my head around this one…

I got gifted this Redken Diamond Oil (R515) from the sweet Leigh from Lipglossismylife, saying it’s too heavy for her hair and I gladly took it off her hands. It comes in two variants – this one is for coarse hair. It’s silicone free (yay!) and promises amazing shine (which is something I haven’t really been able to achieve to a level I’m happy with) & contains olive, jojoba, coconut and sunflower seed oils. We shall see…

I haven’t even received this one yet but I had to include it – I ordered it late last week. Kerastase Elixir Ultime (R470) is about strengthening hair whereas oils are usually all about moisture – intrigued! It’s silicone free as well & I got this as a freebie with a special running EverythingHair (valid till end April/while stocks last).

And onto accessories…

Hair Heroes sent me the Angel Teaser (R280) – a detangling brush that just by looking at it, closes a gap that the others haven’t: it has a handle! It also has a larger surface area which could could help because I have a lot of hair…

I really can’t remember what I paid for my Denman ring buns (I think around R60) but I got it from Dischem or you can get a cheaper house brand from Clicks, or alternatively go the DIY route and use a sock! I won’t be able to use them for quite a while (I don’t have the length yet) but I bought it to kind of inspire myself for the growth I want (& stop ripping my hair out)! I could probably use it today if I straightened my hair but that’s not on the cards for now…

Of course I will let you know how it goes! If you have tried any of these please drop me a line below – would love to know what you thought.

Any one of these you’re curious about & I should try 1st?

Be kind to your hair!
